Don’t unplug the life support machine yet Tribe fans. For about the 20th time this year, the Indians looked dead in the water. Trailing by 1 in the ninth after giving up the lead in the top half of the frame, the Indians were on the verge of losing their 5th straight game and falling 6 games back of the Tigers in the Central.
To make matters worse, the Indians were playing short-handed having lost Travis Hafner with what is potentially a season ending injury and Michael Brantley missing the game thanks to that ailing list of his. Oh yeah, and they have to play the second half of a double-header later tonight. Things couldn’t have gotten much worse had they let this one slip away.
Then in the bottom of the 9th with 2 men on Shin-Soo Choo stepped up to the plate and sent a home run flying out to the left field bleachers. To quote Tom Hamilton as his head was exploding with excitement… “BALL GAME!”
What a ball game it was too. Justin Masterson was outstanding for 8.1 innings before letting things get away from him. Chris Perez meanwhile… the guy is starting to make me a little nervous. He hasn’t been the same since the all-star break. Tim Belcher needs to find a way to get his head back on straight. Anyways, this was a huge win for the Indians. Let’s just hope it builds some momentum for them heading into the night-cap. More to follow either later tonight or tomorrow. For now, it’s time to get back to work… at work.
