5/10/11: Indians vs. Rays

Tonight the Indians open up a six game home stand against the red hot Tampa Bay Rays.  Something is going to give over the course of the next three days.  Both teams come in sporting two of the best records and pitching staffs in all of baseball.  Like always, this series is going to come who pitches better and makes the fewest mistakes because runs are going to come at a premium.  The Indians do have a few things going for them though.  First off they have a 13 game home winning streak.  They play so much better at home it’s sickening.  Second, the Rays are terrible in Cleveland, They’ve only won like 1 game over the course of the past 5 years or something ridiculous like that.

I expect this to be a close series, and like I mentioned the other day, this should be a good test for where the Indians stand in the grand scheme of things in the American League.  Right now Tampa is one of the best teams going.  Maybe if they can pull out 2 of 3 or even a sweep people will begin to take them a bit seriously.  Then again, that’s probably a little bit of wishful thinking.  Here’s to hoping they Indians can draw some big crowds over the next six days.  They could use the boost against a very good team.

Anyway… Here are the lineups.
