If anyone was hoping the Indians would bust out of their road trip scoring swoon… think again. Tonight the Angels will send Jared Weaver to the mound. Jared Weaver, by all accounts, is off to the best start of any pitcher in the bigs right now. He’s 6 and 1 with a microscopic 1.39 ERA. Opponents right now are batting a whopping .174 against him. So like I said, if you think that tonight is the night the Indians finally break out and put up a bunch of crooked numbers there’s a better chance that I’ll purchase beach front property in Arizona.
The Indians will send Alex White to the mound again for his first road start. Last weekend he pitched well in his first ever start, but that was at home. This is totally different. Tonight he goes into Anaheim, a raucous environment with a lot of bleach blondes, fake boobs, and poo flinging rally monkeys. I’ll say the same thing that I said last weekend. This is going to go either very very well, or very very bad. I’m not going out on a limb and making a prediction. I’m just going to sit back and wait and see what happens like the rest of you. It’s going to be interesting to see how White responds to this sort of environment.
It’s way too early for lineups to be released, but I expect Acta to go with his standard 1-9. The other possible lineup will be Brantley leading off with Kearns in left. Either way the continuing subplot of this season is the craptastic performance of Shin-Soo Choo. I’ve defended him, I’ve said he’s going to hit, but at this point I’m about ready to give up. He needs to start hitting, right now. He looks lost. There were signs that he was coming around before the road trip, but that all went to hell in a hand basket as soon as he got arrested. Either way, it’s about time he gets his crap together. His outs of late aren’t even productive anymore. He grounds out when we needs a fly ball, he strikes out when we need a grounder, he’s not even getting walks. It’s frustrating to watch.
Anyways, rant over…
Let’s hope the Indians can get back on the winning side tonight. It would be nice to see them actually pull out a win against the Angels. They’ve lost 3 out of the 4 games this season, all of which came down to the wire. I should probably do myself a favor and go by some more antacid… maybe even buy stock. It’s going to be a long season at this rate.
